This is fantastic: www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/12/18/health/cost-of-health-care-poll.html?smid=tw-share&_r=0 Elisabeth Rosenthal from New York Times hits the nail on the head, but the nail probably won’t be able to afford to be treated for the head injury. The whole “Paying Till It Hurts” series is really good and important journalism. It’s a vivid description of the enormity of the societal problem that Harvard administrators seem to have decided we should become part of, rather than working to search for solutions. (Separately, Happy Holidays to all in this Forum!)

Thanks for the post Frankly. Indeed, this is a profoundly sobering article. It would be so refreshing to see us take a true leadership role on these issues and really work towards meaningful change. It is huge challenge on so many levels but we are is precisely the type of institution that could move the needle on this. There is strong motivation and a lot of good work has already been done regarding possible approaches and alternatives. Contributing meaningfully and positively to the world; it's what Harvard does at its best!
And yes, happy holidays to all! Hoping for a happy and healthy new year!
