I was surprised (yes, still being surprised) that according to my 2014 vs. 2015 elections, I save all of $4 per payperiod for my medical coverage premiums. However, Harvard is saving $12 per payperiod. This is because of the way the premium sharing is set up. The University stated that they were guided by: "Fairness in cost-sharing between the University and its faculty and staff...Savings from these changes will be returned proportionately to the University and to health plan participants, in the form of reduced premiums". I don't see how this premium sharing is at all fair or proportional.

Especially hard to see how that premium sharing can be considered fair or proportional, when 100% of the savings is derived from increased out-of-pocket costs that you will pay in their entirety!
